It's been three years since Newsong last released a pop record. More Life is the album that fans have been waiting for, arguably the group's most consistently enjoyable album since Love Revolution.
Whether it's the high-energy pop songs like "Back Where You Belong," "Life In My Day," "Yea God," or mid-tempo tracks like the sweetly sincere "Cherish" and the fun "He Did What I Couldn't Do," Newsong never lets things get boring. The requisite tear-jerkers are also here, including the wedding song, "When God Made You," and the effectively-worded "It's Not Far," which depicts a son standing by his father's deathbed, whispering, "it's not far from here to Jesus."
Their live performances are what they're best known for, and this new material should all translate well into the live experience. But for what it is, More Life is an enjoyable, creative new album that showcases Newsong's members doing the kind of music that they do best.
