All About Love is just what its title suggests: an album full of love songs. And when I say "full," I mean very full: the disc has no less than sixteen tracks. Clearly, this is a subject that Chapman feels strongly about. But it's more than that. All About Love is at once one of the most creative albums Chapman has ever created, and an incredibly romantic personal gift given by one man to his wife.
There are all of the usual Chapman suspects here: big pop/rock anthems ("All About Love," "Your Side of the World," "We Belong Together," and "With Every Little Kiss") and the quiet, intimate ballads ("Holding A Mystery," "We Will Dance," and others). But then there are the moments that take you completely by surprise -- songs where Chapman shows us sides of his musical aptitude that we've never heard before, particularly when he throws retro love music sounds into the mix.
More than anything, I'm impressed at how much creativity he's able to inject into just one theme -- coming up with no less than thirteen original songs on the subject, all different and interesting in their own way. All About Love is simply amazing.
